Julio Simões Institute organizes activities with the Clown Doctors in hospitals and long-term care facilities for the elderly in Mogi das Cruzes and the surrounding region

São Paulo, July 2023.

May 2023 - The Julio Simões Institute, the social arm of SIMPAR, the holding company that controls the JSL, MOVIDA, Vamos, Automob, CS Brasil, CS Infra and Banco BBC Digital brands, is carrying out actions with the Clown Doctors in hospitals and Long Stay Institutions for the Elderly (ILPIs) in Mogi das Cruzes and the surrounding region throughout the month of May.

The programme, inspired by the "clown doctor" technique, trains SIMPAR's volunteer employees as "clown doctors" to work in hospitals and nursing homes and who, through circus language, bring joy, contribute to humanization and promote a fun experience.

The action aims to provide interaction through playful activities and, above all, active listening, one of the greatest needs of the residents of these institutions, since many of them do not receive visitors.

"Actions like these are a way of showing hospitality. Having a moment to relax and have fun, but above all, having someone to talk to, contributes to the emotional process," says Bia Andari, manager of the Julio Simões Institute.

Next Saturday (13), in addition to listening, the Clown Doctors will bring gifts to the nurses and members of the technical team at Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Mogi das Cruzes, as a way of honoring them for Nurses' Week. On the 27th, the volunteers will visit the elderly who live at Lar Mãe Mariana, in Poá, and at Casa São Vicente de Paula, in Suzano.

The month's agenda also includes the participation of employees in the May birthday party at Vila Dignidade, an institution for approximately 20 independent, low-income elderly people in Mogi das Cruzes. The event will include music, food and drink and lots of conversation and interaction with the residents.
