Certification recognizes the sustainable commitment and transparency of the company, which has continuously improved its emissions inventory with the aim of reducing them
São Paulo, August 2024 - For the fifth year running, the Simpar receives the Gold Seal of Brazilian Program GHG Protocol. The certification indicates maximum degree of transparency in the reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) from the holdingwhich controls the companies JSL, Movida, Let's go, CS Brasil, Automob, BBC Digital Bank, CS Infra e Ciclus Ambiental. Together, the companies operate in 16 sectors of the Brazilian economy.
On an annual basis, Simpar prepares, publishes and has audited by third parties its inventory, which includes scopes 1, 2 and 3. The report is continuously improved and aims to monitor and manage emissions in order to adopt effective mitigation measures. The rational use of fuels and the constant renewal of the fleet are some examples of the Group's initiatives.
"Simpar maintains a management model committed to the ESG agenda, and contributing to minimizing the progress of climate change is material for the company and its subsidiaries" says Paula Pedrão, Simpar's Executive Director for Communication and Sustainability.
In 2021, Simpar had already reassessed the mapping of the main financial risks and opportunities arising from climate change for its businesses, assets, processes and policies. As an evolution, it carried out a new study in 2022 and launched the Climate Change Policy, which reinforces its commitment to mitigation, compensation and adaptation actions to the climate change scenario, formally including the issue in its business decisions and strategies.
The GHG Protocol is a tool originally developed in the United States and used to understand, quantify and manage GHG emissions. It is adapted to the context of different countries. In Brazil, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation's Center for Sustainability Studies proposes registering and publishing inventories of these emissions on a Public Emissions Registry (RPE) platform.
