A growing trend of companies incorporating sustainability (ESG) strategies into operations and business processes has taken the market by storm in recent years. This is partly due to increased global awareness of the environmental and social impacts of business activities, as well as consumer demand for products and services that are greener, more ethical and capable of generating positive effects on society.
In addition, many companies are realizing that adopting sustainable practices can lead to long-term financial benefits, such as: reduced costs, improved operational efficiency and increased customer loyalty. As a result, sustainability is becoming increasingly fundamental to many companies' business strategy, and this trend is expected to continue to grow in the future.
With projects and actions such as fleet renewal and the conscious and sustainable management of resources in line with business objectives, SIMPAR is part of this movement, along with each of its subsidiaries. The company's sustainable growth is based on decisions that take into account the environmental, social and governance dimensions of each business.
SIMPAR
As a holding company, SIMPAR has a series of guidelines relating to sustainable management. One example is the Climate Change Policy, which aims to provide guidance on minimizing the company's negative environmental impact and promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy. To this end, a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Program was developed, which monitors the emissions of these gases in all the Group's companies' operations and develops projects aimed at carbon mitigation and neutralization.
Since 2019, SIMPAR has been recognized with the Gold Seal in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, which indicates the company's transparency in disclosing GHG emissions information in a complete and audited manner.

Another important action by the holding company, a pioneer in the sector, was the issuance of a Sustainability-Linked-Bond (SLB) in 2020. This sustainable bond aims to promote the achievement of ESG targets, which are calibrated based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
SIMPAR also has various social programs, such as "Você Quer? You Can!", which encourages the professional inclusion of young people in situations of social vulnerability.
The positive impact on the lives of employees, partners and members of the communities in which SIMPAR operates is essential for promoting social inclusion and diversity - which are part of the pillars of corporate sustainability.
JSL
JSL invests in various sustainable actions, from the inclusion of women in the transportation sector to the reduction of carbon emissions from its vehicles.
Gas and electric vehicles, cleaner and more sustainable alternatives to diesel-powered trucks and buses, are two of JSL's main strengths in this context.
Still on the subject of emissions mitigation, there are projects aimed at optimizing routes and reducing trips with empty loads, trucks with a low average age (3.6 years, while the national average is 23.2 years, according to ANTT), encouraging the exchange of vehicles by aggregates and third parties, the use of electric forklifts and driver training with the aim of improving efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.
In addition, partnerships have been signed with clients to neutralize carbon emissions. With these initiatives, the company has contributed to preserving the environment.

On the social front, the Women in Driving project is one of the main highlights, with the aim of increasing female representation in the transportation and logistics sector. The program has already had three editions and has trained 47 women to work as drivers or operators of trucks and heavy machinery.
Also with the aim of promoting the education, training and professional development of women, JSL launched the Women in Leadership program in 2022, with the aim of mentoring 24 women, including coordinators and managers, throughout 2023.
Movida
Among its subsidiaries, Movida stands out for its sustainability actions, with a strong commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting the conscious use of natural resources.
Among the actions adopted by the company with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we highlight the electrification of the fleet, the promotion of clean, efficient and renewable energy and the priority consumption of ethanol.
Another important initiative, but on the social front, is the Soma Project (Organized Affordable Housing System), supported by Movida together with several other companies to provide decent housing for more than 100 low-income families in the center of São Paulo.

The company is also committed to promoting inclusion in the workforce, with a focus on increasingly diverse occupation of leadership positions, balancing conditions and opportunities for all. So much so that one of its commitments is to reach 2030 with 50% of leadership positions held by women.
In 2022, the first technological training program for black women took place. The project involved 18 women who took part in the training and were hired as trainees.
Let's go
In the machinery and equipment rental and sales sector, Vamos remains committed to acting as one of the protagonists in the decarbonization process. The business model already contributes to this as it adopts newer vehicles - which are therefore less polluting - the continuous evolution of the electrification of the fleet, energy efficiency resources in the commercial units and incentives for customers to also take on this commitment.
In this context, the company encourages its clients to reduce their emissions and neutralize carbon through initiatives such as Vamos Carbono Zero and the dissemination of our commitments to this end, endorsed by our sustainability and climate change policies.

CS Brasil
The Golden Driver Program, which took place in 2021, was an action with great social impact carried out by CS Brasil, reducing accidents by 41% and 19% in the Mogi das Cruzes and Guararema operations, respectively.
The Sustainable Garage project, carried out at CS Brasil, is one of the SIMPAR Group's highlights in terms of waste management. Through it, we pay attention to selective collection and the restructuring of waste storage sites, with a rigorous assessment of the final destination, which includes a risk analysis carried out with the support of a specialized consultancy.
Also in 2022, this initiative was expanded with investments in the physical structures of the company's garages and awareness-raising actions.
CS Infra
Finally, CS Infra, a SIMPAR company that manages long-term concessions, stands out for the sustainable actions of Ciclus Ambiental, which works to transform solid urban waste into economic assets.
The company generates carbon credits by avoiding atmospheric gas emissions and is registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). By the end of 2022, generation already amounted to 4.3 million credits to be traded. By 2025, Ciclus is expected to generate more than 5.1 million carbon credits.
Other noteworthy actions by Ciclus are: energy production through biogas and motor-generators, an activity that will enable the company to become self-sufficient in energy by 2022; and water generation from leachate (the liquid generated by the decomposition of organic waste).
In the process, the slurry goes through different stages of treatment - physical, chemical and biological, including the reverse osmosis technique, one of the most modern in the world - resulting in clean, demineralized water. Thus, this final input, which complies with environmental legislation, can be marketed for various uses, such as cooling industrial machinery. By the end of 2022, the water had already been used to irrigate the company's own roads.
