The Julio Simões Institute, SIMPAR's social arm, has awarded prizes to students and teachers from schools in the region who took part in the Você Quer? You can! The ceremony took place on Tuesday (1st) at the Memory and Culture Center, located at Simpar's headquarters in the Braz Cubas district of Mogi das Cruzes.
The competition attracted a total of 109 essays, representing 41 schools and involving the 2,837 students who visited the Memory Center, one of the addresses for preserving the memory of the company and the city, which is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2023.
The first prize-winners were Lavínia Oliveira Escaramusa Gomes and her teacher Maria Gilvania Carvalho Braga; the second prize-winner was Cauã Silva Firmino and his teacher Luana Aparecida Cardoso de Moraes; and the third prize-winner was Denis Emanuel Souza da Silva and his teacher Nélia Aparecida Meireles. The names of the municipal schools represented by the winners were not disclosed.
The project gives students the opportunity to do an activity outside of school and learn about the history of social development and entrepreneurship in the city. Through the project, 4th grade students from municipal schools visit the Julio Simões Memory and Culture Center to learn about the history of the founder, the trajectory of the companies and the world of logistics and mobility.
The winning essays were selected by a panel of judges made up of three education specialists from the Mogi das Cruzes Pedagogical Department, as well as four professionals from the Julio Simões Institute.
Prizes were awarded to the three students whose essays, written after their visit to the Memory Center, stood out.
The challenge consisted of composing texts telling the life story of entrepreneur Julio Simões, as well as expressing the most impactful moments of the visit to the space. In addition to the winning students, the Institute also awarded their respective teachers in recognition of their contributions.
"The award is a way of recognizing the students' efforts and ensuring that they continue to produce relevant work. In addition, by honoring the teachers, we also value the crucial role of these professionals who, in the context of the essay contest, have worked to provide this opportunity for the students," said Bia Andari, manager of the Julio Simões Institute.
The essays not only tell stories, but also serve as important metrics to assess the extent to which the project inspires children through values such as ethics and work - and the results speak for themselves.
The winners received a notebook (1st place), a tablet (2nd place) and a smartphone (3rd place).
