Workers at SIMPAR, in Mogi das Cruzes, took part in a charitable initiative this week: they were encouraged to cut their hair in order to donate it to the NGO Cabelegria, which makes wigs for women and children undergoing cancer treatment.
The activity was part of the month of Pink October, established in the national calendar to inform and encourage the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
SIMPAR, which controls the companies JSL, Movida, Vamos, CS Infra, CS Brasil, Automob and Banco BBC Digital, has had a partnership with the social organization Cabelegria since 2013.
On Thursday (26), at the company's administrative headquarters, located in the district of Braz Cubas, in Mogi das Cruzes (SP), hair was cut and donated.
The minimum size for donations was 20 centimeters of hair, which could be with or without chemicals (dye, bleaching, etc.).
The organizers have also opened up an opportunity to help: anyone who doesn't reach the minimum haircut size can donate the cost of the cut to the NGO. Another option is to donate scarves, which will also be sent to the charity.
Simpar's alliance with Cabelegria has continued since the first partnership eight years ago. The NGO collects hair, makes wigs and donates them to people undergoing treatment, among other programs. "Encouraging the active participation of our employees in social causes is the best way to draw attention to the relevance of issues such as breast cancer prevention and promote empathy for these themes, as well as facilitating access to volunteering and relationships with the community," said Paula Pedrão, Simpar's communications and sustainability director.
