June 2023 - With a daily turnover of more than 300 vehicles in its local operation, Simpar - the holding company that manages the JSL, Movida, Vamos, CS Brasil, CS Infra, Automob and Banco BBC Digital brands - has been promoting sustainable practices in its fleet maintenance spaces since 2021, including the unit in the city of Mogi das Cruzes. A Sustainable Garage correctly disposes of automotive parts, motor oil, tires, batteries and other solid waste generated on site.
Between April 2022 and April of this year, Simpar generated and correctly disposed of more than 2.1 tons of waste at its headquarters in the municipality alone. This involved processes such as refining automotive oil, reusing batteries and recycling tires. The company correctly disposed of 183 tons of tires and 94 tons of motor oil. In addition, all the water used to clean trucks, buses and light vehicles is treated and reused on site. As a result, more than 81,000 liters of drinking water were preserved last year.
The Sustainable Garage at the company's headquarters in Mogi das Cruzes is managed by CS Brasil - a company in the group that specializes in fleet management and outsourcing with and without manpower for the public and mixed-economy sectors - and has a space for customizing company vehicles that receives more than 100 cars a month. The site also carries out maintenance on 20 buses used for public transport in the municipality of Guararema (SP) and 20 charter vehicles for private companies operating in the city of Guarulhos (SP), as well as supplying more than 300 cars every month.
In addition to the unit in Mogi das Cruzes, the company has 10 other branches that use the Sustainable Garage process, located in the cities of Guararema (SP), Ramos and Deodoro (RJ), Uberlândia and Contagem (MG), Fortaleza (CE), Goiânia (GO), Várzea Grande (MT) and João Pessoa (PB).
The idea of transforming a conventional garage into a sustainable space is in line with one of SIMPAR's business objectives, which seeks to mitigate the environmental impacts resulting from the activities carried out by its subsidiaries.
