São Paulo, January of 2024 - For the third consecutive year, SIMPAR is included in the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE B3) and for the second time has the largest number of companies selected in the index, which also includes JSL (JSLG3), Movida (MOVI3) and Vamos (VAMO3).
For the first time in the ISE, JSL - the country's largest logistics services company - has been evolving its decarbonization strategies with differentiated alternatives for each client profile. Movida, the car rental company with the most modern fleet in the country, is in the portfolio for the 5th consecutive year and is making steady progress in its ESG commitments, having recently had its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Vamos, the market leader in the rental and sale of trucks, machinery and equipment, occupies the portfolio for the second time.
The 19th portfolio of the Corporate Sustainability Index brings together 78 companies from 36 sectors. As well as being a strong benchmark for responsible investment options in Brazil, the B3 ISE stands out as an inducer of good business practices.
"Simpar maintains a management model in which one of its pillars is the continuous evolution of its ESG practices, contributing to its companies' commitment to promoting positive impacts on their businesses and developing in a sustainable way," says Paula Pedrão, SIMPAR's Director of Corporate Communication and Sustainability. "We define actions in line with business strategies, and assign targets with monitoring indicators, so that progress can be identified and monitored, as well as opportunities for improvement, creating a reliable reporting system and increasingly transparent dialog," she adds.
In 2023, SIMPAR stood out in other important sustainability indices such as MSCI, Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). In the CDP, SIMPAR and its businesses achieved a B grade in the assessment of the last published cycle, positioning them among the best placed in the transportation and logistics sectors in the world, which contributed to their entry into the ISE B3 Portfolio.
The holding company has set itself the target of reducing emissions intensity by 15% between 2021 and 2030. To this end, it is gradually implementing reduction projects, such as JSL, which is investing in fleet renewal to ensure a lower average age, and in diversifying the energy matrix of the models purchased (Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) and electric trucks). Movida, on the other hand, uses ethanol in 87% of the company's internal supplies, and encourages consumers to do the same, in favor of the transition to a low-consumption economy.
Movida, the Simpar Group's car rental company, has had its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets recognized by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in an unprecedented way in its segment in Brazil and throughout the Americas. With this, the company became not only the first car rental company on the continent to receive validation, but also one of the few land and road transportation companies in the world to have its targets approved by the initiative.
In 2021, SIMPAR had already reassessed the mapping of the main risks and financial opportunities arising from climate change for its businesses, assets, processes and policies. As an evolution, it carried out a new study in 2022 and launched its Climate Change Policy, which reinforces its commitment to mitigation, compensation and adaptation actions to the climate change scenario, formally including the issue in its business decisions and strategies.
